You are invited to join us at the 2nd European Transcultural Nursing Association Conference on the 30th June and 1st July 2011, at the University of Limerick, Ireland. The title of this conference is 'Let's learn together, let's work together: Challenges and solutions for Transcultural health and social care'.

This conference invites all health and social care professionals with an interest in the area of Transcultural health and social care practice, policy, education and research. The conference scientific committee welcomes all abstracts with a Transcultural practice, policy, education or research nature; however particular attention will be given to those within the conference themes:

  1. Transcultural care and multidisciplinary teams
  2. Globalisation, European mobility and transcultural care
  3. Innovations in cultural competence in health and social care practice
  4. Innovative methods which promote intercultural education

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

You are invited to submit an abstract electronically for oral, performance, workshop or poster presentation at the conference by 28th March 2011.

GENERAL INFORMATION

Your submitted abstract will be considered and reviewed by the conference scientific committee. You will be advised whether you have been selected to make an Oral, performance, workshop or poster presentation, or if your abstract has been declined, by early April 2011.

Please note that all correspondence will be sent to the email address from which the abstract was received.

Oral Presentations, performances and workshops:

If you are selected to give an oral presentation, performance or workshop you will need to prepare a 20 minute presentation. There will usually be a five minute discussion time after the presentation.

Standard audiovisual equipment will be provided: Lectern, microphone, PC laptop with sound, data projector and screen. If presenting with PowerPoint your presentation needs to be PC ready, if you have a Mac ready presentation, please do ensure that it has been converted to PC prior to your arrival. You will be required to send an electronic version of your PowerPoint to the conference organising committee by no later then the 13th June 2011. Please also bring your presentation with you on a memory stick or CD.

OHP and slide projectors will not be available.

All presenters are required to register for the conference in advance of the conference.

Poster Presentations:

There will be a poster display. The poster panels will be velcro-receptive and should be standard A0 size. The poster should be laminated and the text must be large enough to permit easy reading of both text and illustrations, and conforms to the space allocated.

All presenters are required to register for the conference in advance of the conference. Posters will not be displayed at the conference if presenters of the poster are not in attendance at the conference.

Posters will be displayed during the conference on June 31st and July 1st 2011. Please ensure that all posters adhere to the guidelines available at this link.

SUBMISSION REGULATIONS

Please Note: Abstracts that fail to adhere to the required abstract layout as outlined below will be rejected. Abstracts will be reproduced in the conference handbook exactly as submitted, so please check your abstract carefully before submission to ensure that it conforms to the guidelines outlined below.

A condition of submission of your abstract is that, if accepted, the abstracts will be published in the conference proceedings. Abstracts must be submitted electronically. Please note that abstracts will not be published in the conference proceedings if the presenter(s) are not registered for the conference.

The paper presenter (oral, performance, workshop or poster) profile must be fully completed when submitting the abstract for review.

Important information regarding required abstract layout:

  1. Each abstract must use word Times New Roman font in size 12 point
  2. The abstract must be written in English
  3. The abstract must be no longer than 350 words maximum (excluding title, authors and affiliations, keywords and references)
  4. Text should be single spaced with justified margins
  5. The following guidelines for abstract presentation must be adhered to:
    1. The title of the presentation must be in bold. The first letter of each word of the title must be in upper sentence case.
    2. Full details of all the authors must be provided which should include name; qualifications; role; organisation/affiliation; country and contact email address (s) (which will be published in the conference proceedings).
    3. The author(s) that are presenting at the conference must be in bold.
    4. An email address must be provided for the authors that are presenting at the conference.
    5. The aim of the presentation must be clear.
    6. It is advised to use the following sub-headings where relevant and appropriate:
      • Aim
      • Background
      • Methodology
      • Findings and Recommendations
      • Conclusion
    7. Where references have been cited, a full and accurate reference list must be provided using the Harvard referencing system
    8. The following is an example of a possible abstract layout that you are advised to follow:
